OUR STORY
Paytonlayne's Place was inspired by our very own Payton. She is 28 years old and has down syndrome. Growing up, Payton was always the happiest of girls, bringing joy and light to everyone she met. She ran into difficulties though, when she graduated high school, losing her regular routine and that consistent social interaction with her peers. This is where the idea for Paytonlayne's Place began and it truly began to take shape in 2022. Payton has brought immense joy to our lives and our goal is to give Payton back the joy she deserves by providing a gathering place that she can go to regularly and have experiences and opportunities similar to what she had when she was in school. Thus, we have Paytonlayne's Place, a place where we hope more people like Payton can find their joy too.
PHILOSOPHY
At Paytonlayne's Place, we believe that everyone deserves a place to be themselves and build relationships within their community. With that in mind, we strive to create and maintain a safe space where young adults with developmental disabilities can continue their socialization after completing high school, a time when many behavioral issues tend to arise due to the drastic decline in opportunities to interact with their peers. Our goal at Paytonlayne's Place is to fill that void and provide a place where all are welcome.
