OUR STORY
Paytonlayne's Place began as a small idea and has grown into a truly special endeavor. It was inspired by Payton Layne Holstead, a 26-year old with Down Syndrome who has brought unbelievable joy to our family's life. Payton has been one of the friendliest and most loving girl her whole life. After she graduated, the drastic change in her schedule and loss of social interaction with her friends on a regular basis caused drastic changes to her personality and a major decline in her overall happiness. Paytonlayne's Place provides a gathering place for young adults with developmental disabilities on a bi-monthly basis at First Baptist Church in Owasso, OK where they can flourish and thrive.
PHILOSOPHY
At Paytonlayne's Place, we believe that everyone deserves a place to be themselves and build relationships within their community. With that in mind, we strive to create and maintain a safe space where young adults with developmental disabilities can continue their socialization after completing high school, a time when many behavioral issues tend to arise due to the drastic decline in opportunities to interact with their peers. Our goal at Paytonlayne's Place is to fill that void and provide a place where all are welcome.
